RENEWABLE NATURAL GAS

RNG

WHAT IS RNG?

"Renewable natural gas (RNG) is a pipeline-quality gas that is fully interchangeable with conventional natural gas and thus can be used in natural gas vehicles. RNG is essentially biogas (the gaseous product of the decomposition of organic matter) that has been processed to purity standards. Like conventional natural gas, RNG can be used as a transportation fuel in the form of compressed natural gas (CNG) or liquefied natural gas (LNG). RNG qualifies as an advanced biofuel under the Renewable Fuel Standard."

AMERICAN-MADE

Cleanfuel Energy creates alliances with midwestern dairy farms, distilleries and landfills through our renewable natural gas partnerships. We ensure that the waste is delivered to state-of-the-art anaerobic digesters, so that the methane can be cleaned and filtered there to produce high-quality, pipe-line gas for our fueling stations. That RNG can then be pumped into trucks, buses and refuse vehicles to fuel fleets both sustainably and economically.

RNG BENEFITS

  • Promotes Public Health

  • Protects the Environment

  • Lowers Fuel Cost

  • Strengthens National Energy Security

Don Hayden, President of M&M Cartage is pleased with the expansion of the Kentuckiana Cleanfuel brand into Ohio. “The location of the station will help M&M Cartage to further serve our customer base,” said Mr. Hayden, “and we’re proud that our commitment to CNG provides valuable economic and environmental benefits to their shareholders.

POWERFUL PARTNERSHIPS

These 24/7 public access stations are designed and built by TruStar Energy of Rancho Cucamonga, California, and powered by four 250-horsepower ANGI NG300E packages, featuring Ohio-made Ariel JGQ/2 natural gas compressors and three dual-pump nozzles that feature a maximum fast-fill flow of up to fifteen gallons per minute.

PROVEN TECHNOLOGY

Since our first station opened in 2015, Kentuckiana Cleanfuel has pumped over 14 million gasoline gallon equivalents (GGE) of compressed natural gas into tractor-trailers, waste haulers and other vehicles. For our anchor fleet, M&M Cartage of Louisville, Kentucky, this translates into over 70 million green miles, reducing a decade of smog forming NOx emissions by 90% (compared to the EPA NOx standard) and significantly reducing greenhouse gas emissions when compared to standard diesel engines.

TOTAL SOLUTIONS

Cleanfuel Energy is leading the way to zero-emission transportation by sourcing renewable natural gas (RNG) from organic waste and converting it to fuel for vehicles. We reduce greenhouse gas emissions by operating the largest public natural gas fueling stations in Cincinnati, Ohio and Louisville, Kentucky and are poised for future growth in 2026.

“From my perspective, it's amazing that people we talk to even in the industry aren't aware of the availability of RNG and the impact it can have on reducing their carbon footprint.”
